SuperBlazer.com

The Super Blazer was born out of the $1000 race. This race consisted of teams with a $1000 budget to buy a car, make any improvements, and race it through the desert. A television station was unloading some old SUVs, and it was a match made in heaven.

One cold March afternoon Will Dotter and Tony Brummer went to the auto parts store to discover that night was the O’Reily’s Outlaw National Championship Hot Rod Motorsports Series. One call to Eric “Hillbilly” Cunningham and lives were changed forever. At the monster truck rally one look at the tough truck competition and the Super Blazer was born. The only requirements were that you had the battery strapped down, a seatbelt attached to the vehicle in some way, and most importantly, you had to be there by 4. Tony and Hillbilly went straight to the lab to begin modifications. They worked through the night and by the next afternoon we were ready to roll.

The Super Blazer got to the competition by 4, as well as meeting the other race requirements. When it was race time she soared through the air like an eagle over the first jump and crashed harder than Robert Downey Jr. after a four-day bender on the second. When the SuperBlazer was entered the competition, the brakes didn’t really work. By the end of the race, the engine wouldn’t hold oil either. The Super Blazer just was too far gone for fixin’, so the best thing to do is to send her out with a bang, literally. We are going to blow her up and make a documentary about us doing it.

The best way to do this seemed be to auction the car off on Ebay and make the winner a personalized video of the Super Blazer blowing up. This idea failed miserably. A friend of ours got drunk and used someone else’s Ebay account to bid on the blazer, and she won the auction for $4.25. Then she didn’t pay.

We realized this gives us a chance to hold the webathon. This worked out better for everyone. Now everyone can be a part of the process, and the explosion. Instead of one person getting one video, everyone can get a video and relive their Super Blazer memories and dreams over and over again. The Super Blazer has lived a happy life full of adventure, but all good things come to an end. Her time has come. She has lost her way. Help us send her home.

The Super Blazer ended up getting set on fire accidentally (kind of), and has been put to rest, but we shot some really cool videos over the course if its life.  Check them out.  I hope you get a laugh or 2.

Just a Little Bit Crazy

Welcome to the wildest show in the west! Every year the first weekend of April from 1972- 2012, the Taylor Jaycees held their annual National Rattlesnake Sacking Championship and Arts & Crafts Show. The teams consist of 2 people, a sacker and a bag-man that are trying to get 10 snakes into burlap sack as fast as possible. Getting bit is inevitable.

This documentary chronicles the 2003 championship where Guinness World Record holder and snake sacking champion Jackie Bibby & his partner Ken Garret have been the team to beat for over a decade, but the mother/ son sacking team of Bobby Duke and Betty Harris feel like they have been cheated out of the title for all these years. Will they finally come out on top?  You’ll have to watch to find out!

True Believer

David Cleaver first saw Bigfoot as a  while at summer camp.  Ever since then he’s dedicated his life to seeing and hopefully capturing him on film to prove to himself (and the rest of the world) that he really saw this legendary creature.  But, how do you find something so elusive that seems to know when a camera’s around? Well, the trick is making him want to find you. That, and a hatcam.  This short film gives viewers a look into his lifelong quest.

Buzz Bomb

The Flametrick Subs have always been, and always will be a raw, high energy-filled live performance with a fine blend of psycho-alien-voodoo-bad girl originals. Hailing from Austin, Texas, the Flametrick Subs were formed in 1989 by lead vocals/guitarist, Buster Crash and lead guitarist, Clem Hoot. Mix a little Johnny Cash, a bit of The Cramps, a touch of The Ramones, and the finest go-go dancers, The Satan’s Cheerleaders and you have the most insane rock and roll show imaginable. Buzz Bomb was shot in the vein of a 50’s appliance commercial with a lot of naughty housewives demonstrating the products.
