In the late summer/ early fall of 2015, I mean who can really remember? It’s so hot during the Texas summer that you lose all sense of reality and just hope to survive, but I digress. My buddy Tony says to me he wants to get some property just outside of town.  I would really like to get some property just outside of town as well.  We figure if we combine forces, we can get something a lot better than if we go it alone. Eventually our buddy Mike came aboard to join our land adventure.  This is great.  We can have an even better place this way.

I’ve been wanting to get out of town for a while and build a tiny house.  Have some spot where I could have a really cook workshop to make the awesome. The dream is to build my tiny house, raise some chickens, maybe a dozen have some bees, and 4 goats that I may or may have not already named in my head. Who knows how many dogs will end up out there.

I immediately dove into the real estate websites.  We were looking for something about 1/2 an hour from downtown Austin. West is the suburbs so 1/2 an hour that direction you’re still in town.  We wanted to avoid the I-35 corridor because it’s a disaster. East it is! We looked from down by Lockhart, TX (where my favorite BBQ lives) all the way up to Taylor.  I found a place in Elgin, TX with no flood plain and it was a great price!

img_0275img_0274img_0269We went out there and immediately saw why is was such a good deal. It was covered in junk! The property has a house/ cabin thing on it straight out of a horror movie, and it has a school bus, which is real cool. There are a ton of trails, wildlife and trees.  There’s going to be some amazing trails to run/ ride bikes on. It was a totally of 33 acres, so each of us gets an 11 acre pallet to create our magic on or 33 acres of bad decision land.

We made an offer of May 2016, and we closed at an amazing price in July Now we got such a good deal because we have so much to clean up.  There’s a well and a septic but who knows if that works.  Now the adventure really begins.
